About
Caryl's perspectives and the essence of who she is are rooted in her roles as mother, educator, and athlete. Montrose, Colorado has been her home since 2014, following 25 years in Salt Lake City, Utah. She also experienced life overseas for five years in Izmir, Turkey.
As a Colorado native, Caryl pursued her dual passions of swimming and art, which led her to the University of Utah where she thrived as a scholarship athlete and earned a Bachelor of Fine Art in Drawing and Painting. These opportunities transformed Caryl's life.
At the U of U, she was inspired by her talented art professors Paul Davis, Doug Snow, and Ed Maryon, who all helped her develop strong skills in portraiture, figurative drawing, and watercolor painting. Her first mentor, the late Peggy Anderson Gibson, considered among the hundred Greatest Artists of Utah, encouraged her in art education and to develop her own artistic talents.
Nature's sublime qualities of light transport Caryl; she strives to share the beauty she has witnessed with others through her paintings. With no uncertainty, she is most proud of her son Altan. He is her light.
